The Joy of Not Knowing: Lifelong Learning and Philosophy

Participants will be introduced to the six lifelong learning dispositions and to how to integrate Philosophy and a philosophical approach to the teaching and learning process so that:

  • All children develop all the dispositions that will ensure that they are able to succeed as effective lifelong learners and global citizens;
  • Philosophy and a philosophical approach to all areas of the curriculum is used as a motivational tool that inspires and enthuses all children with a love of curiosity;
  • Home learning becomes an integral and fascinating part of the daily routine promoting creative thinking at home
Impact Statement
Pupils will:
  • be intrinsically motivated to want to learn
  • embrace challenge and uncertainty
  • develop a deep love of learning, asking questions and of thinking creatively
NQTs will:
  • develop a creative, critical, analytical, visual and philosophical thinking skills approach to all areas of the curriculum
