Learning in and through Physical Education in Key Stage 2 (including swimming)

This course will give NQTs an insight into the national curriculum for physical education to establish what constitutes high quality PE and School Sport. NQTs will be supported to develop their planning for physical education.

Introduction to the KS2 Primary PE Curriculum (Classroom)
How to structure a KS2 Primary PE Lesson (Practical – Sports hall)
Q&A session over lunch (provided)

Observing a Primary PE Swimming Lesson with Q&A session

Please note: Attendees are required to wear suitable clothing to participate in practical activities.

Impact Statement
Pupils will:
  • have enjoyable physical education and school sport lessons
  • have improved self-esteem and motivation for their physical education and school sport
NQTs will:
  • increase confidence to deliver physical education and school sport
  • have a wider range of teaching strategies for PE
  • develop an understanding of primary school swimming

  • benefit from good or outstanding PE lessons
  • gain increased knowledge of school swimming requirements
